Manor House Prosnitz

Prosnitz was an old estate of the von Platen family, which passed to a von Rahlke (Rhalek) family in the 16th century, but later came back into possession of the von Platen family.

During the 19th and 20th centuries ownership changed frequently, named are: Mr. Kracht in 1859, Mr. Nörenberg in 1874, Mr. Rose in 1892, Mr. "Freese und die Rentengutsbesitzer" (and pension fund owners) in 1907, Reinhold Hannemann in 1922 and 1928. The last owners of the estate until 1942 were the Krüger family. Since then, the estate had been in possession of the municipality of Gustow.

After the end of World War II the manor house, which was built at the beginning of the 19th century, served as accommodation for refugees and was occupied by several families until 1990.

Soon after the political change, Axel Kajahn purchased the manor house from the municipality of Gustow and, after renovating it opened the "Gutshaus Kajahn" Hotel and Restaurant in 1994 including the trade of game and venison.

We introduce Prosnitz in part 2 of the book >>Gutshäuser und Schlösser auf Rügen>> (Manor Houses and Castles on the Island of Rügen)
