Manor House Toitz

The Toitz manor house is embedded in a park with old trees. The village is now in the Mecklenburg Lake District, but from a historical point of view it belongs to Western Pomerania.

Toitz was first mentioned in documents in 1292. In 1838, the manor house was built in its present form by reconstructing a previous building on behalf of the Wendorff family, who had acquired the estate shortly before. Hugo Wendorff sold the estate in 1917. However, the new owners, two Berlin industrialists, were only able to keep the estate for a few years: during the Great Depression, they went bankrupt. At the compulsory auction in 1930, the Demmin merchant Klänhammer purchased the estate; he was also the last owner who was expropriated in the course of the land reform after 1945.

The manor house is now privately owned; it was renovated in the 2000s and, like the park, the surrounding wall, and the wrought-iron gate, is a listed building.

Toitz can be found in the book "Fotografische Zeitreise Vorpommern" Band 4 ("Photographic Time Travel Vorpommern" Volume 4.)
